Ghosts

For the last few years I have sought to explore the creation of new images via the complete debasement of others.

Sourcing images from myself, friends and online my aim is to start with something so recognisable it is in of itself perhaps even prosaic. My code however treats these images merely as a series of data. Each pixel is harvested simply for is colour and position. There is no understanding of what the image “is”. There are only numbers!

The algorithm uses this data as information to create a new image. Individual pixels can expand, multiply, join,die and decay as the process traverses the data set.

The new image is a statement in itself yet retains core qualities and echoes of what once was. A Ghost if you will.
